But before I go into the inner workings of the workshop, if you find yourself in need of information on space bears, you can check out the video below! It's what we showed the kids we worked with and is an awesome overview of all things tardigrades.
Now that the kids (and you) learned what a tardigrade is, we got into the meat of the workshop. The workshop had four different parts: microscopes, drawing, sculpting, and a couple other supplementary activities to help emphasize the might of our little friends. The kids were divided into three groups that cycled through the stations over the course of the workshop. One apprentice was assigned to each group while the remaining apprentices and Space Bear facilitators stayed at one of the three stations to assist when needed.
The workshop went super smoothly, in huge part not just because of us apprentices but also because of the many others who helped with the workshop, whether by working with us during the workshop, helping to setup, or to get supplies for the workshop. Because of the contributions of the whole team the event went very smoothly and the kids seemed to enjoy it a lot, and us apprentices and facilitators got to enjoy a successful and cohesive teaching experience.
